Success Stories
Our vision is to become a leading Black theatre institution in the Southeast and beyond—one that preserves cultural legacy, champions new voices, and produces work that is artistically excellent, socially relevant, and emotionally unforgettable.
Our Core Initiatives
Theatre Rooted in Black Excellence
Legacy
Honoring the shoulders we stand on
We believe our work is part of a continuum. Showtime Legacy Theatre Company honors the pioneers, storytellers, ancestors, and cultural architects who paved the way for Black theatre, Black art, and Black expression. We recognize that every story we tell is informed by history—by the struggles, triumphs, faith, creativity, and resilience of those who came before us.
Our productions intentionally preserve cultural memory while passing it forward, ensuring that Black stories are not erased, diluted, or forgotten—but celebrated, protected, and carried into future generations.
Excellence
Professional, high-quality productions
Excellence is not optional—it is our standard. We are committed to producing theatre that meets and exceeds professional industry benchmarks in performance, direction, design, storytelling, and production value.
We believe Black stories deserve the same level of care, investment, and artistic rigor as any major stage production. From rehearsal rooms to opening night, we hold ourselves accountable to quality, preparation, and discipline—because excellence honors both the audience and the artists.
Authenticity
Stories told truthfully and boldly
We tell stories that are real, layered, and unapologetic. Showtime Legacy Theatre Company is committed to presenting narratives that reflect the full spectrum of Black life—its beauty, contradictions, pain, humor, faith, and power—without compromise or caricature.
Our work is grounded in lived experience and cultural truth. We do not soften stories for comfort or dilute them for approval. Instead, we embrace bold storytelling that invites reflection, sparks conversation, and resonates deeply with those who see themselves on stage.
Community &Opportunity
Theatre made with the people, not just for them
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Showtime Legacy Theatre Company believes theatre is a shared experience—one that thrives when artists, audiences, and neighborhoods are part of the process.
We actively engage local voices through partnerships, talkbacks, educational programming, outreach initiatives, and collaborative creation. Our goal is to make theatre accessible, inclusive, and reflective of the communities we serve—ensuring that people don’t just attend the work, but feel ownership in it.
We are committed to building pathways—not gatekeeping them. Showtime Legacy Theatre Company intentionally creates opportunities for Black actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and emerging creatives to develop their craft, gain professional experience, and be seen.
Through productions, training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, we work to remove barriers and open doors. Our aim is not only to spotlight talent, but to cultivate sustainable careers and empower artists to lead, create, and thrive within the theatrical landscape.
